Sunset opened her eyes. Soft morning light was seeping into her room, some tinted in magical hues by stained glass.
A quick glance beyond the window panes revealed the domes of the White City, glistening in the Sun like dew-stained water lilies on a lake of marble and gold.
She stirred beneath the silky blanket and rolled aside; making no sound, she set her hooves on the carpet. Sunset made her way across her study and pulled open the door to step into hallway.
"Sunset Shimmer?" a familiar voice called. She wheeled around. It was Her; the Princess stood at the end of the corridor, Her gaze of reserved, chilly curiosity directed towards Sunset, yet looking right through her.
"It seems you have not yet forgotten me; I didn't think you would have," Sunset's own voice replied from behind her, cold and venomous. Frozen in her tracks, she slowly turned her head to face the dark red silhouette.
